Experienced optometric care with a personal approach

The practice has served Brackenfell families for decades, combining continuity of care with careful listening, clear communication, and ongoing investment in diagnostic technology.

About Dr Martin Grimbly
Dr Grimbly has studied and worked in both England and the USA. In 2003 he relocated to Boston to complete his Doctor of Optometry degree while also passing American national board examinations.

That clinical depth means you get accurate assessments and clear explanations — not a rushed prescription. The goal is always to help you understand what is happening with your eyes and what your options actually are.

Dr Grimbly has particular experience working with patients living with dementia and Alzheimer's disease, and is well-practised in adapting examinations to suit patients who need a slower pace, simpler explanations, or a more structured visit.

He has also received specialist training in the fitting of Knobloch shooting glasses, and offers colorimetry assessments to identify precision tints for patients experiencing perceptual distortions — including those with dyslexia or reading difficulties.

The practice continues to invest in equipment, including ZEISS Vision Centre technology, to support earlier detection, more confident monitoring, and better-informed prescription decisions.
